Contact support
For help with FilmPlay or to report a problem, email us with “FilmPlay” in the subject line.
When possible, include your device model, iOS and FilmPlay versions, steps leading to the problem, and any error message. You can find the FilmPlay version on its App Store page or in iPhone Settings → General → iPhone Storage → FilmPlay. Hide private content in screenshots. Do not send your Apple Account password or payment-card number.
What is free, and FilmPlay Pro
The free version includes five looks — Gentle Everyday, Vintage 8mm, Classic Monochrome, KITANO BLUE, and Movie Trailer — plus No Look. Capture, import, editing, date display, exporting, and saving stay free, with no watermark.
FilmPlay Pro unlocks all 52 looks with a one-time purchase. There are no monthly charges or automatic renewals. Check the price in the app’s purchase screen, shown in your App Store currency. Choosing a paid look opens the purchase screen; tap Continue with Free Looks to return to the free look you were using.
3-day free trial
Tap Try Free for 3 Days on the purchase screen to get the free (0-cost) trial item with your Apple Account; Apple shows its confirmation sheet. The trial lasts 72 hours from the moment you first get the item. There are no automatic charges or renewals, and nothing to cancel.
During the trial, all 52 looks are available for capture, material editing, and project editing, and you can save your work. The end date and time appear on the purchase screen and in Camera settings. You can buy Pro during the trial; a purchase always takes precedence.
When the trial ends, the app returns to the five free looks plus No Look, and the purchase screen shows “Your free trial has ended.” Choosing a paid look for new capture or editing then requires Pro, but materials, projects, and exports saved during the trial remain. The trial is available once per Apple Account. Reinstalling, using another device, or restoring purchases reuses the same original record and does not extend the period.
Restore Purchases
- Make sure App Store purchases use the same Apple Account you used for FilmPlay Pro or the trial.
- Open Camera settings from FilmPlay’s camera screen and tap the FilmPlay Pro row. The same option is available on the purchase screen that opens when you choose a paid look.
- Tap Restore Purchases and complete any Apple confirmation.
Restoration checks an existing purchase; it does not make a new purchase of the same product. The same steps work after moving to a new iPhone. Restoring the trial does not extend it; if more than 72 hours have passed since you first got it, the app shows “Your free trial has ended.”
If products do not appear or a purchase fails
If no price appears on the purchase screen, you see “The free trial isn’t available right now.”, or a purchase or restore does not complete, check the following and then tap Retry.
- Your connection (Airplane Mode, Wi-Fi, or cellular data).
- That you are signed in to the App Store with your Apple Account.
- That in-app purchases are not restricted, for example by Screen Time.
While FilmPlay cannot receive product information from Apple, purchasing is disabled and the app never proceeds with a placeholder price. If Apple puts a purchase on hold, for example pending approval, it is applied automatically once approved. If the problem persists after a while, contact us.
Refunds
Request a refund through Apple’s Report a Problem. Apple determines eligibility. Deleting the app does not automatically refund a purchase.
Importing and saving photos and videos, and permissions
Use Import photos & videos in Library → Media to choose items from Photos. HEIC, JPEG, and PNG photos are imported as they are; WebP, AVIF, HEIF, TIFF, BMP, single-frame GIF, and JPEG 2000 are converted to PNG on import. Images over 50 megapixels are not converted. Videos are supported as MOV (QuickTime) and MP4. Other formats and damaged files cannot be imported; items that fail are listed with the reason. The originals in Photos are not changed.
The date of an imported material defaults to the moment you confirmed the import, and you can change it on the confirmation screen. Capture and saving need the camera, microphone, and photo permissions in iPhone Settings → Apps → FilmPlay. Photo read access is requested when you import, and photo add access when you save to Photos.
Materials, projects, and deletion
Manage items in the Media and Films sections of the Library. Remove a material from projects that use it before deleting it. Deleting a material in FilmPlay leaves the original in Photos intact.
Deleting the app also deletes materials and projects stored only inside the app. Do not make reinstalling your first troubleshooting step; export important photos and videos first. Restore Purchases checks what you bought and does not bring back deleted photos, videos, or edits. Manage backups and copies in Photos through their respective settings.
If capture or saving fails
In iPhone Settings → Apps → FilmPlay, check the camera, microphone, and photo permissions needed for the action. Check available storage if saving fails; Camera settings shows the storage used by this app and the free space on the device. Capture and saving start when you press their buttons. Purchasing Pro or closing settings does not start recording.
Extended capture can warm the device. If the warmth concerns you, pause capture and let the device rest. Follow any temperature guidance shown by your iPhone.
Changing the language
Tap the gear on the camera screen → Language to choose from 17 languages. The default is Follow iPhone Settings. Your choice stays after restarting, and saved projects and captions do not change. In older versions without this setting, use iPhone Settings → Apps → FilmPlay → Language. If Language is missing, add a supported language in General → Language & Region.
Use the Language menu at the top of this website to switch between 17 languages. Supported newer app versions open these pages in the app’s display language. Links between pages keep your chosen language.
